Responsibility

The chief responsibility of the coroner is to determine the cause of death in cases involving

  • Violence
  • Casualty
  • Unexplained or suspicious circumstances
  • Or when a person has been found deceased

Duties of the County Coroners

Duties of the County Coroners include:

  • Identification of the deceased
  • Determination of the cause of death
  • Determination of the manner of death

The County Coroner is on-call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
