Have you heard about residents in rural areas of Jefferson County getting fiber high-speed internet? It is true! Residents of Jefferson County can expect to see workers this year in areas surrounding Lancaster, Smyrna, Volga, Belleview, Bryantsburg, and Cannan. The dots on the map represent the residents that have gone through the process of creating a Next Level Connections account. If you are not familiar with the Next Level Connections Program, please take some time to do so. It is not too late! The address and information you provide are sent to a portal where local internet service providers can see those addresses and make bids to the State of Indiana. So go tell your neighbors! When those local internet service providers see a large area that is in need of internet with insufficient speeds they are able to make a bid to service the area. Then, the State of Indiana can grant funding to the provider(s) to do the work of expanding broadband to that area quickly.
These areas within Jefferson County have been identified to receive access to Spectrum's fiber-based services as part of the combination of Indiana’s Next Level Connections program and the Rural Digital Opportunity Fund (RDOF), initiatives focused on bridging the digital divide by helping to fund the deployment of broadband networks in rural America. Spectrum may need to access portions of your property over the course of 2023 as they move forward with construction. Spectrum appreciates your cooperation and patience as Spectrum’s employees or other authorized agents work to complete their assigned tasks for the benefit of Jefferson County's future. If you have any questions, call Spectrum at 1-972-630-5000.
