Cemetery Board

The Jefferson County Commissioners created the Cemetery Commission pursuant to I.C. 23-14-67-1. The Commission was established to restore and maintain cemeteries that are without funds or sources of funds, for reasonable maintenance, have suffered neglect and deterioration and may be the burial ground for Indiana pioneer leaders, established before 1875 or is a burial ground for veterans from all American conflicts through the Civil War.   

The Cemetery Commission members are appointed to staggering terms. Currently, the Commission consists of a 5-member board. The current members are:

The commission is scheduled to meet on the third Wednesday of the month, March through November, at 10 AM in the Jefferson County – Purdue Extension Office Conference Room (Lonnie Mason building next to 4H Fairgrounds), 3767 SR 256, Madison, IN 47250.  Questions can be emailed to cemetery@jeffersoncounty.in.gov.
